i-PLACE is a platform for regional, place-based innovation presented by the Key Cities Innovation Network, a collaboration between 22 cities and 12 universities across the UK.
Developed to connect policy, research and practice, i-PLACE brings together cities, universities, cultural organisations, businesses and civic leaders to explore how innovation can address the economic, environmental and social challenges facing communities both within and outside major metropolitan centres. Through conferences, publications, digital media and collaborative partnerships, the platform promotes new approaches to inclusive growth, climate resilience, culture-led regeneration and civic participation.
At the heart of i-PLACE is an active network of 22 cities and 12 universities working collaboratively across the UK and internationally. Its outputs include peer-reviewed policy compendia, public events, filmed conversations and research dissemination through the i-PLACE digital platform and YouTube channel. Recent work has explored themes including innovation ecosystems, coastal resilience, arts and culture, devolution and net zero policy. Designed as both a knowledge exchange platform and an advocacy mechanism, i-PLACE helps turn local innovation into practical policy ideas that can be shared and scaled, while championing the role of smaller cities and regions in shaping the future economy.
i-PLACE was created and is delivered for the Key Cities Innovation Network (KCIN) and by Images&Co as the network’s secretariat
