Doing Zero

Doing Zero was a creative climate action project commissioned by the British Council as part of its programme for the COP26 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. The project brought together communities in Harpurhey, North Manchester, and Kawangware, Nairobi, to explore the relationship between food systems, poverty and climate change through collaborative workshops, storytelling and design. Participants worked with climate experts, artists and community organisations to develop practical insights around sustainable food, urban farming and environmental responsibility.

The project generated a series of public-facing outputs including a documentary short film and a major exhibition at Manchester School of Art. The exhibition combined data visualisation, photography, illustration and immersive installation design to communicate the human impact of climate change and encourage behavioural change through creativity and participation. Created and produced by Images&Co in collaboration with Design Manchester and Nairobi Design Week, Doing Zero demonstrates how design, culture and community engagement can connect global climate policy to everyday lived experience.
